Ganesha Chaturthi at our Villa in Saudi Arabia….

Posted by Avinash Joshi On August - 25 - 2009
This is just awesome. My Mom is the most creative person I have ever met!!!

When my Dad returned back home (from his office at around 4 p.m.), he saw my Mom carrying out the Ganesh Pooja in a small way, in the house.

God idols can not be brought / displayed there in the country (where my parents stay; and photos are also not allowed). But amma had her novel way – she did a drawing of Ganesha and used the same for the pooja…!

Modaka (2 types) and paayasam were offered, along with fruits.

Dad also thought it fit to harvest the first ever ‘cucumber’ from our garden on this occasion and offer it to Lord Ganesha. The cucumber (the first one among many – in different stages in the garden) is grown well. See the pictures below….

This is great. Kudos to your mom. When muslims can celeberate muslimfestivals with open participation of even the by indian governament, it is pity, hindus are not allowed even to prey to their God openly,in Soudi arabia and so many other muslim countries, leave alone celeberations. Let there be religeous freedom in all the countries in this world, which is becoming smaller every day.
